Happy Veteran's Day...

Dad.
I just tore the house apart looking for a photo I have of my Dad from one of his tours in Vietnam. Instead I found this awesomeness. I think about this kid pictured here and how a few short years later his worldview completely changed. My Dad was drafted into the army. He served as a medic through 2 tours in Vietnam. I can't imagine anything more terrifying than fighting in a war, struggling for survival, not knowing what the next minute held or whether or not you'd see your family again. It must take a bravery you aren't sure you have, courage to dig down deep and faith unwavering. Whenever I see an American flag I feel a tingle. When I hear the National Anthem, I blink back tears. It must feel monumentally more to a veteran. Someone who risks their life to preserve the freedom of others. Today I am proud of my Dad and the troops who protect our country and freedom.

Wha??

Can you tell what this is? I'm sure you'll never guess.
It's my 81 year old Grandma taking My Littles on wagon rides.
Just a kid at heart. As soon as we pulled out of her driveway Ivy said, "When can we take another wagon ride with Great Grandma?"

In other news, the weather has severely changed here at The Honey Hut. Yesterday the high was 72 degrees. Today 39. We expect snow and wind, I dare say my pistachio tree will unlikely ripen to her ruby red brightness. I have been burning and raking all morning, trying to beat the storm. Molly Mae is staying with us over the weekend, so all shoes and toys are up and out of mammoth-Mastiff-jaw reach.
Goo's trucks sit on my new table. I'm waving my white flag at these leaves and heading inside to sit by the fire.

Americans...

...did you?

Apple Hill Harvest Run.

On Sunday, Savannah ran in the Apple Hill Harvest Run. All proceeds benefit her school. It is the PTO's biggest fundraiser of the year and our little town comes alive with over 2,000 runners and supporters.
Sophia, Gracie and Savannah line up at the start of the Kid's 1/2 mile fun run.
Best buddies, running their little hearts out.
Her class made the flag we saluted during the National Anthem.
5k runners at the start.
Sophia and Gracie's brother Sean is a cross-country running rockstar. He came in 1st in his age group and 2nd OVERALL!! He came in a full minute before the next runner, one of his best buddies and former teammate. I don't know how his Mom and Dad bottle up their pride, I was crazy excited for him and I barely know the kid. Dude runs a sub 5 mile. Crazy.

Season's End.

The Lady Falcon's had their last game and End of Season party on Saturday. It was a rough season playing on unseasonably hot Saturdays in an over-watered field. Coach Karen, who loved the children and encouraged them continuously, had never before coached soccer and so they all learned a lot as a team.
The party was held at the local bowling alley where the girls indulged in video games. The "Claw" machine was very popular with My Little Girls. I am certain we spent a small fortune, our faces sagged in bitter disappointment as we walked away empty handed.
The real prize. This Little Girl is very proud of herself.

Right Now.

The Little Girls are loving this app, I found these photos saved to my camera.
Ivy Jane is under the weather today, she is sleeping peacefully beside me.
I found this antique wrought iron patio set (in great condition) at the thrift store this morning. $16 for the whole set!!! I'm excited to clean it up. Thanks Dad for helping me haul it home.
I hope you all have a fun weekend, I'm looking forward to...
Book Club tonight! We read this.
Savannah's last soccer game and team party.
Huddy's 3rd birthday party.
My long run tomorrow and this race on Sunday.

Oooo.

Last night was an auspicious night, equally fun and spooky. Cloaked in fog. Perfect.
Treating at the neighbors, Kevin and Nita's.
GOO!
We spent the rest of the evening at Gracie's Halloween Party (the Little girls have dubbed Gracie and her sister Sophia, "Queens of Halloween".)
My Littles, Sophia and Gracie.
