Every night Tim sits down with the little girls and reads them a library book. On his last trip to the library, he picked out books that promised adventure and excitement. Something different than princesses and pink and dancers. These books have not disappointed and afterward Savannah's imagination runs wild with questions. (Ivy usually falls asleep on my chest this, the most endearing and cherished part of my day.) Last night Tim read
this.I am sure with time the little girls will show more interest in sports. I know they love playing with Tim and they are interested at least faintly in watching and asking a bit about whatever sport Tim is watching or listening to. Usually something like this. "Daddy, is that basketball or football." or Ivy just says, "That's Daddy's show." They have been watching some of the Olympics, being especially excited by the snowboarding and of course...figure skating.
After the story was read, Tim got out his baseball bat and showed Savannah how to hold it and swing with it. A little tutorial about baseball followed.
Then...
Tim: "When the weather gets nice, we'll buy you a bat.
Maybe a wooden bat like Casey played with."
Savannah: "No, I want a pink one. With dancers on it. Lots of dancers, all dancing around it."
Tim, looks at me: "Buzz kill."
